About Voima
OUR MISSION: #TRACE
Voima is dedicated to addressing the multifaceted issue of sickle cell disease (SCD) through a comprehensive approach called #TRACE, which focuses on building a supportive community and providing essential services. Our solution encompasses community engagement, educational campaigns and advocacy, research, and technology to create a holistic support system for individuals affected by SCD.
Our Story
I lost my dear friend EliJa to Sickle Cell Disease just before our final exams, and two childhood mates in my neighborhood also couldn't survive the disease. My co-founders and I share similar stories of loved ones affected by SCD, which fuels our passion for raising awareness.
SCD is a major public health concern in Sub-Saharan Africa, with 15,000 newborns diagnosed in Ghana each year. Despite its prevalence, awareness remains low, and that's why we founded Voima—to raise awareness, reduce new cases, and empower those living with the disease.

What People Are Saying

"I became a Voima Sickle Cell Ambassador because of my childhood friend, whose strength in the face of sickle cell disease inspired me. Her resilience through painful crises motivated me to co-found Voima and raise awareness to support others affected by the disease."
